Skate para falar delas : os atravessamentos de gênero na recepção via Twitter da participação de Rayssa Leal nas Olimpíadas

Abstract

Este estudo tem como problema de pesquisa a seguinte questão: quais os atravessamentos de gênero que permearam a recepção da participação de Rayssa Leal no campeonato de skate street feminino das Olimpíadas de 2020 pelo público brasileiro no Twitter? O objetivo geral é identificar quais temáticas que emergiram do debate de gênero nas publicações feitas por brasileiros no Twitter a respeito da participação da atleta Rayssa Leal na estreia do skate nas Olimpíadas de 2020, considerando o contexto de desigualdade enfrentado por mulheres na prática do esporte. A revisão da literatura em um primeiro momento aborda as temáticas de gênero, mulheres e esporte, história e cultura do skate e da categoria feminina; em uma segunda etapa se discorre a respeito de mídias digitais, com foco nas temáticas de: convergência midiática, recepção, segunda tela, uso das plataformas digitais para discussões de relevância social e a presença do debate de gênero e do feminismo na Internet. Quanto às estratégias metodológicas, a pesquisa é qualitativa (BAUER; GASKELL, 2011; PRODANOV; FREITAS, 2013) com ênfase descritiva (GIL, 2008). Utilizou-se da pesquisa bibliográfica (STUMPF, 2005) e, durante a etapa de análise e investigação empírica, foi tomada como inspiração a análise de conteúdo categorial, baseada nas proposições de Bardin (1977) e Sampaio e Lycarião (2021). O trabalho investigativo empreendido a partir de publicações sobre Rayssa Leal no Twitter permitiu observar uma diversidade de temas que surgem no debate de gênero em torno da participação da atleta nas Olimpíadas. Papéis de gênero, comparações entre o masculino e o feminino e a representatividade/identidade de Rayssa foram atravessamentos que motivaram discussões sobre gênero. Nas discussões empreendidas, respostas com intenções de afastamento/rejeição da pauta de gênero representaram o tema de maior frequência, indicando a forte presença de uma oposição ao debate do assunto no Twitter. Frente à coleta, foi possível perceber o potencial da imagem de Rayssa Leal como tensionadora das normas de gênero a partir do skate.

The research problem of this study is the following question: what gender crossings permeated the reception of Rayssa Leal's participation in the women's street skateboarding championship at the 2020 Olympics by the Brazilian public on Twitter? The general objective is to identify which themes emerged from the gender debate in posts made by brazilians on Twitter about athlete Rayssa Leal’s participation in the skateboarding debut at the 2020 Olympics, considering the context of inequality faced by women in the practice of the sport. The literature review first addresses the themes of gender, women and sport, the history and culture of skateboarding and female skateboarding; in a second stage, it discusses about digital media, focusing on the themes of: media convergence, reception, second screen, the use of digital platforms for discussions of social relevance and the presence of the gender debate and feminism on the Internet. In terms of methodological strategies, this research is qualitative (BAUER; GASKELL, 2011; PRODANOV; FREITAS, 2013) with a descriptive emphasis (GIL, 2008). It used the method of bibliographical research (STUMPF, 2005) and, during the stage of analysis and empirical investigation, categorical content analysis was used as inspiration, based on the propositions of Bardin (1977) and Sampaio and Lycarião (2021). The investigative research based on posts about Rayssa Leal on Twitter allowed this study to observe a diversity of themes that arise from the gender debate around the participation of the athlete in the Olympics. Gender roles, comparisons between the masculine and feminine and Rayssa’s representativeness/identity were crossings that motivated discussions about gender. In the held discussions, responses with intentions of distancing/rejecting the gender agenda represented the most frequent theme, indicating the strong presence of the opposition to the debate on the subject on Twitter. In the view of the collected data, it was possible to notice the potential of Rayssa Leal’s image as a tensioner of gender norms through skateboarding.
