Cooperação, natureza humana e linguagem

Abstract

Este trabalho revisa parte da literatura sobre evolução das espécies nas últimas décadas, principalmente no tocante à cooperação e sua influência no processo evolutivo-adaptativo da espécie humana. A revisão mostra que nas últimas décadas houve, no mínimo, cinco mudanças significativas no debate, ocasionando a emergência de estudos que passaram a considerar a cooperação como elemento fundamental na vida social das espécies na natureza. Faz-se ainda uma exposição sobre os possíveis passos evolutivos que proporcionaram as capacidades sócio cognitivas únicas humanas e que são responsáveis pela emergência de uma forma de cooperação jamais vista antes na natureza. Por fim, faz-se uma análise a respeito de como a cooperação também parece ser o elemento central na linguagem humana. Para tanto, é apresentada uma investigação acerca da natureza da linguagem, diante da convergência existente entre os estudos linguísticos de filósofos como Paul Grice, que apontam para a cooperação como sendo um elemento essencial para a linguagem, bem como entre os estudos empíricos que constataram a relevância da cooperação no processo evolutivo das espécies e em especial da espécie humana. Este trabalho também tem a pretensão de destacar a interdisciplinaridade enriquecedora do debate sobre evolução humana, de modo que tal cenário de interação permite não somente uma melhor compreensão de tópicos de biologia, mas também de tópicos onde sempre houve vasta discussão filosófica.

This essay reviews part of the literature on species evolution in recent decades, particularly regarding cooperation and its influence on the evolutionary-adaptative process of the human species. The review demonstrates that over the past few decades, there have been at least five significant changes in the debate, leading to the emergence of studies that now consider cooperation as a fundamental element in the social life of species in nature. It also provides an exposition on the possible evolutionary steps that have provided humans with unique socio-cognitive capacities and are responsible for the emergence of a form of cooperation never before seen in nature. Finally, an analysis is made regarding how cooperation also appears to be the central element in human language. To this end, an investigation into the nature of language is presented, considering the existing convergence between linguistic studies of philosophers such as Paul Grice, who point to cooperation as an essential element for language, as well as empirical studies that have found the relevance of cooperation in the evolutionary process of species, especially humans. This essay also aims to highlight the enriching interdisciplinary nature of the debate on human evolution, allowing not only a better understanding of biology topics but also topics that have always been the subject of extensive philosophical discussion.
