Transbordar o passado : fotografia como documento e arte contemporânea

Abstract

O presente artigo reflete sobre possibilidades da fotografia documental na arte contemporânea tomando como fio condutor as ideias de Olivier Lugon, Michel Poivert e Maria Lind e os trabalhos Ontem sonhei com dias melhores(2013), de Fernanda Gassen, Dissonante, Vago(2013), do coletivo Garapa, eCabanagem(2015), deAndréPenteado. Inicialmente, problematiza a oposição histórica estabelecida entreas categorias de arteedocumento para, a seguir, discutir o atual destaqueconferido a práticas documentárias no campo artístico. Os trabalhos analisados revisam eampliam a tradição da fotografia documental, constituindo uma forma deinvestigar a realidade na qual a imagem se apresenta como uma visão parcial esubjetiva, frequentementecombinada a outras imagens etextos para perturbar as narrativas estabelecidas.

This article investigates the current importance of documentary photography in contemporary art, taking as its starting points the ideas of Olivier Lugon, Michel Poivert and Maria Lind and the artworks Ontem sonhei com dias melhores (2013), by Fernanda Gassen, Dissonante, Vago (2013), by Garapa collective, and Cabanagem, by André Penteado. It initially discusses the historical opposition between art and document and, after, the reasons which sustain the prominent position of documentary practices in the artistic field. The works studied revise and broaden the tradition of documentary photography, offering a way to investigate reality in which the image is presented as a partial and subjective vision, often combined with other images and texts to disturb established narratives.
