“Everyone’s holding on to someone, and everyone’s holding on to everyone” : a busca por pertencimento em contos de chuck palahniuk

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma análise literária de três contos do escritor norte-americano Chuck Palahniuk: “Zumbis”, “Falas Amargas” e “Desabrigados”. Chuck Palahniuk escreve, assumidamente, personagens disfuncionais e solitários que buscam, por meios não convencionais, pelo sentimento de pertencimento em seus respectivos universos narrativos. Sendo assim, a análise literária aqui realizada será feita sob essa perspectiva, buscando entender e ilustrar de que formas esse fator pode ser observado nos personagens dos contos em questão.

The purpose of this study is to conduct a literary analysis of three short stories by North American writer Chuck Palahniuk: “Zombies”, “Speaking Bitterness” and “Slumming”. Chuck Palahnik admittedly writes dysfunctional and lonely characters who search, in unconventional ways, for the feeling of belonging in their respective narrative universes. With that in mind, this literary analysis will be carried out under this perspective, with the purpose of understanding and illustrating the ways in which this aspect can be observed in the characters of the short stories under discussion.
