O 1º Salão de Outono e as artes visuais em Porto Alegre nos anos 1920

Abstract

O 1º Salão de Outono de Porto Alegre foi a segunda grande exposição exclusivamente de artes organizada na cidade. O evento ocorreu em 1925, na Sala de Honra da Intendência Municipal. Foram expostas mais de 300 obras de pintura, escultura, fotografia, arquitetura, artes aplicadas, entre outras linguagens, de aproximadamente 60 artistas, profissionais e amadores. Embora seja muito citado na historiografia da arte, não havia um estudo especialmente dedicado ao evento. O objetivo geral da presente pesquisa foi resgatar a história do Salão, contribuindo para a revisão historiográfica da arte no Rio Grande do Sul, a partir de fontes primárias e iconográficas, como diários, críticas, reportagens, documentos e imagens. Entre outros resultados, algumas obras foram identificadas, o perfil dos artistas participantes foi traçado, a repercussão e as críticas publicadas na imprensa foram recuperadas e algumas inconsistências frequentemente repetidas na historiografia da arte sobre o 1º Salão de Outono foram reveladas.

The 1st Salão de Outono was the second major exhibition exclusively of arts organized in Porto Alegre. The event took place in 1925, in the city hall. More than 300 works were exhibited. There were works of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, applied arts, among other forms of art, by approximately 60 artists, including professionals and amateurs. Although the exhibition is often mentioned in the historiography of art, there was no study specifically dedicated to it. The general objective of this study was to uncover the history of the Salão, contributing to the revision of the historiography of art in Rio Grande do Sul. The research was based on primary and iconographic sources, such as diaries, reviews, reports, documents, and images. The main research results were: the recognition of some exhibited works, the identification of the exhibitors, the gathering of the critical press coverage and the disclosure of some frequently repeated inconsistencies about the 1st Salão de Outono.
