Entre a discórdia e a regulação : uma etnografia a partir do circuito de arbitragem de futebol de várzea em Porto Alegre

Abstract

Este trabalho debruça-se sobre a temática da arbitragem de futebol. O objetivo é apresentar uma interpretação sobre as formas pelas quais a arbitragem de futebol atua em partidas disputadas no âmbito amador masculino em Porto Alegre-RS. De forma complementar, reflete-se sobre as especificidades de tal atividade face às competições de várzea. Para tanto, ancora-se nas reflexões sobre circuito comercial (Zelizer, 2005), considerando que a arbitragem em competições desta natureza na cidade de Porto Alegre opera ela própria como tal. A pesquisa, de caráter etnográfico, conta com a participação do autor como membro das equipes de arbitragem durante a 27ª edição do Campeonato Municipal de Futebol de Várzea, promovido pela prefeitura da cidade no ano de 2019. A investigação atenta para as interpretações oferecidas pelos árbitros acerca da atividade que exercem, das valências desejáveis e das dificuldades enfrentadas junto ao circuito. A experiência empreendida sugere que arbitragem de futebol é notabilizada coletivamente pelas controvérsias que a atravessam e que esta perspectiva pauta o relacionamento dos árbitros com outros agentes que participam do ambiente futebolístico (jogadores, torcedores, dirigentes, jornalistas). Observando as disputas que envolvem a atividade, bem como a busca por sua regulação, especula-se sobre quais são os limites, tanto da atuação individual de um árbitro, quanto do próprio circuito da arbitragem descrito. Considerase que a arbitragem de futebol de várzea é uma atividade que postula uma performance calcada na masculinidade, lida por meio de valores e posturas austeras, duras e autoritárias. Por fim, infere-se que marcadores como raça podem fazer ver os limites desta atuação e, em última instância, do próprio circuito.

This work focuses on the topic of football refereeing. The objective is to present an interpretation of the ways in which football referees act in matches played in the male amateur arena in Porto Alegre-RS. In a complementary way, it reflects on the specificities of such activity in relation to amateur competitions. To this end, it is anchored in the reflections on the commercial circuit (Zelizer, 2005), considering that the officiating in competitions of this nature in the city of Porto Alegre operates itself as such. The research, of an ethnographic character, relies on the author's participation as a member of the refereeing teams during the 27th edition of the Municipal de Várzea Football Championship, promoted by the city hall in 2019.The investigation is attentive to the interpretations offered by the referees about the activity they perform, the desirable values and the difficulties faced by the circuit. The experience undertaken suggests that soccer refereeing is collectively notable for the controversies that go through it and that this perspective guides the relationship of referees with other agents that participate in the football environment (players, fans, managers, journalists). Observing the disputes involving the activity, as well as the search for its regulation, it is speculated on what are the limits, both of the individual performance of a referee, and of the refereeing circuit itself described. Amateur football refereeing is considered an activity that postulates a performance based on manhood, read through austere, harsh and authoritarian values and attitudes. Finally, it is inferred that markers such as race can make the limits of this performance and, ultimately, the circuit itself.
