Silos : a forma da reforma

Abstract

Este trabalho aborda o tema da reforma de antigos edifícios industriais. Uma tipologia, em especial, foi escolhida para aprofundar a questão, a tipologia dos silos. Esses antigos edifícios de armazenamento possuem plasticidade muito particular e são ainda pouco explorados em termos de reformas que possam agregar valor ao meio urbano e qualidade de vida à sociedade. Por outro lado, os exemplos de intervenções já realizadas demonstram a grande versatilidade e potencialidade dos silos para se tornarem espaços ímpares para novos usos e usuários. A questão da desindustrialização das cidades é um tema frequente entre técnicos da área de arquitetura, muito especialmente, os dedicados ao estudo do patrimônio. Também é um tema presente no cotidiano de muitas pessoas que habitam as cidades. São necessárias criatividade e novas soluções diante de enormes regiões abandonadas ou subutilizadas em meio aos centros urbanos contemporâneos. O estudo sobre os silos trouxe à tona ainda distintas questões de importante discussão para colaborar com o tema. Entre elas: a investigação acerca das formas puras, a influência dos edifícios fabris - notadamente, dos silos - sobre os primeiros arquitetos modernos, a discussão em torno dos valores que esses edifícios possuem, a integração dessa tipologia com as artes, entre outros. Todos esses temas são relevantes fontes de discussão e merecem destaque para que novas formas de reformas de edifícios e revitalizações das cidades sejam cada vez mais presentes e viáveis para arquitetos e para usuários dos espaços urbanos.

This study approaches the theme of renovating old industrial buildings. In particular, one typology was chosen to deepen the issue, the typology of silos. These old storage buildings have a very specific plasticity and are still little explored in terms of renovations that can add value to the urban environment and quality of life to society. On the other hand, the examples of renovations already done demonstrate great versatility and potentiality to become unique spaces for new uses and users. The issue of the deindustrialization of cities is a frequent theme among architecture technicians, specially those dedicated to the study of heritage. It is also a theme present in the daily lives of many people who inhabit the cities. Creativity and new solutions are needed in the face of huge abandoned or underutilized regions in the midst of contemporary urban centers. The study on silos has also brought up many important discussion issues to collaborate on the topic. These include the investigation into pure forms, the influence of fabricated buildings - notably silos - on early modern architects, the discussion around the values these buildings have, the integration of this typology with the arts, among others. All of these themes are relevant sources of discussion and deserve attention so that new forms of building renovations and revitalizations of cities are increasingly present and viable for architects and users of urban spaces.
