Análise em tempo real de dois contextos linguísticos de palatalização na cidade de Porto Alegre (RS)

Abstract

Este trabalho faz uma análise em tempo real (LABOV, 1994) do processo de palatalização regressiva das oclusivas alveolares /t/ e /d/ diante da vogal /i/ não derivada (time::[tʃi]me, diário::[ʤi]ário) e da vogal [i] derivada de /e/ em sílaba átona (teatro::[tʃi]atro, cadeado::ca[ʤi]ado) na cidade de Porto Alegre. Para tanto, foram pesquisadas 12 entrevistas sociolinguísticas do projeto VARSUL realizadas nos anos 1990 e 12 entrevistas sociolinguísticas do projeto LínguaPOA realizadas no ano de 2016, sendo os informantes dos dois projetos moradores da capital. Os pressupostos teóricos e metodológicos são embasados pela Teoria da Variação e Mudança (LABOV, 2008 [1972]). Através dos resultados das análises estatísticas é possível concluir que a aplicação da palatalização das oclusivas alveolares diante da vogal /i/ não derivada é categórica no português falado em Porto Alegre e é desencadeado preferencialmente por mulheres e pessoas mais jovens. Em relação a palatalização das oclusivas diante da vogal [i] derivada de /e/ em sílaba átona, a posição final apresenta altos índices de proporção de palatalização, contudo, trata-se apenas de uma análise preliminar que deve ser melhor investigada em estudos futuros.

This paper is a real-time analysis (LABOV, 1994) of the process of regressive palatalization of dental stops /t/ and /d/ before the non derived vowel /i/ (time::[tʃi]me, diário::[ʤi]ário) and derived vowel [i] from /e/ in unstressed syllable (teatro::[tʃi]atro, cadeado::ca[ʤi]ado) in Porto Alegre. Speech data were extracted from 12 sociolinguistic interviews from the VARSUL project dated from the 1990’s and from 12 sociolinguistic interviews from LínguaPOA project dated from 2016. All the informants were living in Porto Alegre at the time of the interview. The theoretical and methodological assumptions are based on the Variationist Theory (LABOV, 2008 [1972]). Through the results of the statistical analysis it is possible to conclude that the application of the palatalization of dental stops before the vowel /i/ not derived from /e/ achieved the status of categorical realization in Portuguese spoken in Porto Alegre and its realization is preferentially produced by women and young people. Concerning the palatalization of dental stops before the vowel [i] derived from /e/ in unstressed syllable, the final position presents high proportion of palatalization. However, this study consists of a preliminary analysis that should be better investigated on future studies.
