O tratamento, a mediação e o uso dos livros de imagem no contexto de bibliotecas escolares em Porto Alegre-rs

Abstract

Os livros de imagens fazem parte da literatura infantil e por conterem uma linguagem visual podem servir como ferramenta para o desenvolvimento de habilidades que permitirão à criança estar preparada para viver em meio a uma sociedade onde é cada vez maior a massificação das imagens. Áreas como a Educação e as Artes estão começando a perceber o potencial dos livros de imagem no processo de alfabetização visual, sendo assim, cabe também ao bibliotecário, por ser um mediador da leitura, disponibilizar e trabalhar com essas obras nas bibliotecas. Com o objetivo de identificar bibliotecas escolares que contenham em seus acervos livros de imagem, qual é o tratamento dados a estes livros e como eles são utilizados, foram selecionadas três bibliotecas escolares, duas públicas e uma privada, da cidade de Porto Alegre. Foi realizada uma entrevista com as bibliotecárias responsáveis pelas bibliotecas e que posteriormente serviu para que fosse feita uma análise qualitativa das informações obtidas. Os resultados revelam que, embora, aparentemente entendam e acreditem na importância de ter e de trabalhar com os livros de imagem nas bibliotecas escolares, existe uma resistência em adquiri-los e em realizar atividades que promovam o seu uso. Uma das bibliotecas, contudo, mostra os resultados positivos que vem a ter a valorização dos livros de imagem em seu espaço por apresentar um cenário no qual professores e alunos se sentem à vontade para ler e fazer uso destes livros. O estudo mostra ainda que professores e bibliotecários estão despreparados para lidar com obras nas quais as imagens são a única forma de linguagem. A formação e a cultura na qual vivem, onde a arte não é valorizada, seria a responsável pela presente dificuldade encontrada por esses profissionais. Diante da presente realidade cabe sugerir que educadores e bibliotecários busquem reverter essa situação, entendendo a importância do estudo da imagem para o aprendizado das crianças, procurando formas de trabalhar com os livros de imagem e inserindo essa literatura nas leituras feitas pelos alunos.

The image books are part of the childish literature and it’sbecause they got a visual language that they will be an instrument for the habilities growth that will get the chid prepared to live in a society where the massification grows. Areas like education and arts are starting to see the image’s potential on visual teaching of read and writing, so, it’s the librarian’s paper as Reading mediator turns this avaliate and Works with these books in the libraries. With the objective of identify school libraries that got image books in their pile and what’s the treatment given to these books, three libraries at Porto Alegre were chosen – two public and one private. It was made na interview, with the responsible librarians in the libraries, that laterly were used to make a qualitative analysis of the data acquired. The results reveal that in despite of, apparently, they understand and believe in the importance of having and working with the image books at the school libraries, there’s a resistance to get them and to accomplish activities that promote their use. Altough, one of the libraries show positive results that are relationed with valorization of image books in their space for show a scenery where teachers and students are free to read and use these books. The study also shows that teachers and librarians are not prepared to use these books wich has only images as a language. The formation and culture where they live – where art isn’t valorizated -, would be responsible for the presente difficulty that these proffessionals find. In front of this reality, it’s up to educators and librarians try to revert the situation, understanding the importance of the study of the image for the children’s apprenticeship, looking for ways to work with image books and introducing this literature in the students’s Reading.
