A representação da informação geográfica, cultural e espacial da cidade em três mapas turísticos de Porto Alegre do período do final do séc. XX

Abstract

Este trabalho analisa três mapas da cidade de Porto Alegre do período do final do séc. XX, produzidos pelas atividades de promoção turística do município pela Empresa Porto-Alegrense de Turismo – EPATUR, e localizados no Arquivo Histórico de Porto Alegre Moysés Vellinho. A metodologia de pesquisa consistiu na pesquisa bibliográfica, para compreender a temática e construir o referencial teórico, e na pesquisa documental, no fundo documental da EPATUR. São escolhidos três documentos cartográficos, descritos e analisados a partir da criação de categorias de recursos turísticos. Busca responder à problemática de qual cidade, como fonte de informação, os mapas representam. Para tal, utiliza referencial teórico do campo da Arquivologia, História, Geografia e Ciências Sociais refletindo sobre os seguintes conceitos: mapa, representação do espaço, instrumento de representação de informação, narrativa turística. Conclui que a representação da informação da cidade nos mapas é construída por um projeto turístico, promotor da informação de um extraterritório urbano mercantilizado de revelações e apagamentos políticos e ideológicos.

This final paper analyzes three maps of the city of Porto Alegre from the end of the 20th century, produced through the municipal tourism promotion activities by the company Empresa Porto-Alegrense de Turismo – EPATUR, and located in the Historical Archive of Porto Alegre Moysés Vellinho. The research methodology consisted of bibliographical research, to understand the thematic and build the theoretical framework, and documentary research, in EPATUR's documentary fonds. Three cartographic documents are chosen, described and analyzed as of the creation of a tourist resources classification. It seeks to answer the problem of which city, as a information source, the maps represent. For that purpose, it uses a theoretical framework from the fields of Archival Science, History, Geography and Social Sciences, reflecting on the following concepts: map, spatial representation, information representation instrument, tourist narrative. It concludes that the representation of city information on maps is built by a tourist project, promoting the information of an urban extraterritory commodified and composed of political and ideological revelations and erasures.
