Potenciais inovações no mercado financeiro por meio da tecnologia Blockchain

Abstract

O presente estudo tem por objetivo analisar os potenciais impactos da blockchain no futuro do mercado financeiro tradicional brasileiro. Realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritivaexploratória e documental. Inicialmente, foi feita a revisão da literatura sobre o tema, a partir da busca de artigos sobre a blockchain no mercado financeiro por meio do portal de periódico CAPES, sendo encontrados 20 artigos. Através de análise do conteúdo dos artigos, foram identificados 8 princípios e 29 utilizações da blockchain no mercado financeiro. Posteriormente, também foram levantados documentos institucionais sobre a blockchain dos cinco maiores bancos brasileiros, sendo realizada a análise de conteúdo desses documentos para identificar os projetos de uso da tecnologia no mercado financeiro nacional. Os resultados permitem identificar que os bancos brasileiros ainda estão muito distantes do que se vê na literatura sobre o tema. De todas as utilizações retiradas da literatura, apenas em 41% delas os bancos brasileiros já estão atuando, sendo que alguns projetos ainda estão em fase de teste. Pode-se concluir que dos bancos analisados, o Santander é o que tem mais utilizações já implementados da tecnologia. Por fim, destaca-se contribuições relacionadas à literatura e ao campo, ao realizar uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre blockchain no mercado financeiro, com ênfase no setor bancário, mapeando-se usos específicos da tecnologia; e ao analisar a aderência do mercado financeiro nacional quanto ao uso da blockchain e identificar lacunas de potenciais utilizações onde os bancos podem atuar.

This study aims to analyze the potential impacts of blockchain on the future of the traditional Brazilian financial market. Qualitative, descriptive-exploratory, and documentary research was carried out. Initially, a literature review on the subject was carried out, based on the search for articles on blockchain in the financial market through the CAPES journal portal, with 20 articles being found. By analyzing the content of the articles, 8 principles and 29 uses of blockchain in the financial market were identified. Subsequently, institutional documents on the blockchain of the five important Brazilian banks were also collected, and the content analysis of these documents was carried out to identify projects using the technology in the national financial market. The results allow us to identify that Brazilian banks are still far from what is seen in the literature on the subject. Of all the uses taken from the literature, only 41% of the Brazilian banks are already operating blockchain, and some projects are still in the test phase. It can be concluded that of the banks analyzed, Santander is the one that has already implemented the most uses of the technology. Finally, contributions related to the literature and the field are highlighted, by carrying out a systematic review of the literature on blockchain in the financial market, with an emphasis on the banking sector, mapping specific uses of the technology; and analyzing the adherence of the national financial market to the use of blockchain and identifying gaps in potential uses where banks can act.
