O lado oculto da alma : sobre o aparecimento da maldade na arte contemporânea e sua potência de mobilização política

Abstract

O presente trabalho apresenta como tema a Maldade. A partir de sua conceituação geral, este trabalho apresenta duas formas pelas quais a Maldade aparece em alguns exemplos de obras de arte contemporâneas e discute as possibilidades dessas formas de mobilizar transformações políticas. Inicialmente, o trabalho analisa a Maldade no ser humano do ponto de vista conceitual bem como suas implicações políticas, tendo como referência os pensamentos da filósofa política Hannah Arendt e o médico e psicanalista Wilhelm Reich. Essa reflexão se faz a partir das obras Origens do Totalitarismo, A Condição Humana e, principalmente, Eichmann em Jerusalém, de Arendt, e Análise do Caráter, A Função do Orgasmo e Psicologia de Massas do Fascismo, de Reich. Em um segundo momento, o trabalho analisa as narrativas de duas criações historicamente recentes, de duas linguagens artísticas diferentes, visando identificar como a Maldade e os insights propiciados pelos autores aparecem nestas obras, sendo elas a série Cobra Kai, criada por Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz e Hayden Schlossberg, e a peça Roberto Zucco, de Bernard-Marie Koltès. Por fim, o trabalho retoma as ideias nele apresentadas, sintetizando-as e aplicando-as para compreender melhor o contexto recente do Brasil, os potenciais políticos das diferentes linguagens artísticas e alguns entendimentos gerais sobre a Maldade em si.

The following work introduces, as its theme, Evil. Starting from its general conceptualization, this essay presents two ways in which Evil appears in some contemporary works of art, while discussing the possibilities that these forms have of mobilizing political transformations. At first, it analyzes the Evil in human beings from a conceptual point of view, as well as its political implications, having the thoughts of the political philosopher Hannah Arendt and the doctor and psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich as reference. This thought is made from the works The Origins of Totalitarianism, The Human Condition and, specially, Eichmann in Jerusalem, by Arendt, and Character Analysis, Function of the Orgasm and The Mass Psychology of Fascism, by Reich. In a following moment, this essay analyzes the narrative of two historically different creations, two different artistic languages, aiming to identify how Evil and the insights provided by these authors appear in these works, being them the TV series Cobra Kai, created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and the theatre play Roberto Zucco, by Bernard-Marie Koltès. Finally, the essay resumes the ideas presented on it, synthesizing and applying them to understand better the recent context of Brazil, the political potential from the different artistic languages and some general understandings from Evil itself.
