Seguindo os Princípios Olímpicos : proposta de alterações nas regras oficiais de basquetebol para uma participação adequada das mulheres

Abstract

A busca das mulheres por direitos de igualdade perante aos homens é motivo de notórias controvérsias. No campo esportivo, o Comitê Olímpico Internacional vem demonstrando grande interesse por este assunto, priorizando a promoção da mulher no esporte. Esta pesquisa apresenta uma análise estatística dos dados antropométricos e de aptidão física de duas equipes de basquetebol, os campeões do Campeonato Paulista Adulto Masculino e Feminino, na temporada 1996/1997. Foi realizada uma análise descritiva dos valores, de acordo com o cálculo da média, desvio padrão, máximo e mínimo. Posteriormente, através de estatística inferencial, utilizou-se o Teste de Diferenças de Médias (Teste t), com nível de significância de 5%, efetivando-se o estudo comparativo entre os grupos. Foi constatada uma diferença significativa entre a média dos dados estatísticos avaliados. Este estudo constituiu-se numa primeira etapa e deve, necessariamente, ser ampliado e aprofundado, colocando em prática as modificações nas regras oficiais do basquetebol, sugeridas nesta investigação que visam alterar as mesmas para uma participação adequada das mulheres: 1. Reduzir a altura do aro em relação ao solo em 25 cm. A regra oficial estabelece a altura do aro em relação ao solo em 3,05 m; 2. Substituir a bola, atualmente comum para homens e mulheres, pela bola americana feminina, que é menor e mais leve e que é utilizada na Liga Universitária Americana Feminina (NCAA) desde 1984, bem como na Liga Profissional Americana Feminina (WNBA), que recentemente encerrou sua segunda temporada.

The women’s claim for the same rights as men is a prominent controversy. In sporting field, the International Olympic Committee has been demonstrated an enormous interest with this subject, encouraging the promotion of women in sport. This research to present itself a statistic analysis of the antropometrics and physical fitness data from two basketball high level teams, the Paulista Championship Men and Women champions, in the 1996/1997 season. Was made a descriptive analysis of the values, according the average calculation, standard diversion, maximum and minimum. Subsequently, through inferential statistic, was used the Average Differences Test (t Test), with significance level of 5%, was made the comparative study between the groups. Was established a significant difference between the average statistics data valued. This study was the first stage and must, necessarily, be enlarged and make deeper, putting in practical the changes in the official basketball rules suggested in this research, which has the goal to change the rules for women’s adequate participation: 1. To lower the height of the hoop in 25 cm (10 inches). The official rule set up the height of the hoop in 3,05 m; 2. To substitute the ball, currently the same for men and women, for the American ball, which is smaller and lighter and is used in the United States Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) since 1984, and in the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA), which recently finished their second season.
